Still screamin'

I bought these chocolate Peeps at the grocery store because they inspired me to create a new flavor of ice cream: chocolate chunks with chocolate Peeps, chocolate!   I used Alton Brown's recipe.  In order to make the Peeps bite-sized, they had to be cut up.  This made me sad.

Peep parts, frozen.

Chocolate chunked and also frozen.

(This is the milk/Ghirardelli unsweetened chocolate powder and a vanilla bean.  You can barely see the floating black seeds.)

Mixture cooled and into the maker.  Alton's recipe made about 2 cups too much mix for my Cuisinart 4-cup.  I sent the excess back to the refrigerator and froze it several hours later.

After 20 minutes of processing, I added the Peeps and chocolate chunks and froze the ice cream overnight.

THE RESULT: It was good - but not great - the Peeps were resistant to becoming incorporated with the ice cream and sort of fell out when scooped.  Also, the chocolate chunks were too big - but everyone still had their natural teeth afterward, so I guess it wasn't all that bad.

Got a photo of the chocolate bars before they disappeared, though.
