Twenty-two years ago, Dan and I got married on one of the coldest days ever. It was -30f, multiple cars refused to start and my father got frostbite on his thumb trying the non-responsive keys of the old station wagon.
I also remember that it cost $400 a month in electricity (all my wages) to heat our Carter Hill ranch that winter, prompting a conversion to wood - and then there was the chimney fire, but that's another story.
Today it's relatively temperate, and I have these to keep me warm...
...or at least, feverishly hopped up on sugar and chocolate. Happy Valentine's Day!
In case you are curious, these were all very, very good (my opinion) - but Dan found the dark chocolate too bitter for his taste, and the curry, chile, paprika, and absinthe ones were "all kinds of not right". But with names like "wink of the rabbit," "woolloomooloo," and "chef pascal" they were something I could not resist trying just this once.
I had to buy a package of Hershey's "Bliss" milk chocolate hearts to make it up to him.
