Wheatless: Conte's Cheese Ravioli

I was thrilled to see this in the frozen gf section at Healthy Living and couldn't wait to try them; it brought back memories of how we used to go to Bove's and get the 1/2 meat/1/2 cheese ravioli, white garlic sauce. It's been a harsh parting.


Don't look directly at the pasta. Look away!  Purple cauliflower was an unfortunate pairing (though sweet and tasty).  Bove's Vodka sauce and parmesan made it complete.

The verdict? They were very heavy, two was all I could eat - though that stretched out the leftovers.  I used to make my own ravioli, so I have some experience beyond Bove's... and they came off as a bit bland.

Loads of garlic oil like the old days could step it up - or maybe doing the fried ravioli thing with a dipping sauce.  Lots of possibilities, they just need more ooomph to be interesting.
