There's White-tailed deer across the road this morning in the alfalfa field. We see them all around Highgate.

***I absolutely love my girly pink point-n-shoot camera, EXCEPT when it comes to photographing wildlife. I should just knuckle-down and buy a decent digital SLR to replace the old pre-digital age clunker that I haven't used since technology made photography cheap and fast.***
Anyhow, this post is supposed to be about one of the down-the-road neighbors, who shot a Red Deer stag (also called a hart) the other day. The game warden figures it was an escapee from one of those canned game hunting places. Here's what they look like:

There seems to be a lot of controversy lately about canned hunting in the area, but those places wouldn't exist without customers who were okay with shooting fish in a barrel.
