Shocked and Appalled

Out of 40 turkey babies, only 27 are left.  A predator has been getting in and grabbing them by the leg, hauling them (or attempting to haul them) out of the coop.  So, not only do we have missing birds, but ones left behind with broken legs.

They have been moved from the outdoor coop, into the "hot box" inside the barn where Cornish chicks are started in cold weather.  This coop has been seeded with traps - and as my husband Dan says - we are going to impact the local critter population with severe prejudice.

**UPDATE** Day one after bird removal; rat #1 has been captured and eliminated.

If you purchased a holiday turkey from us last year - we are attempting to locate replacement chicks, but it is late in the season.  I'll keep you posted.
