The most interesting thing I ate last week

(Prettier than a picture in real life; I turned off the flash to avoid being a distraction.)

This wasn't a high-priced fancy restaurant.  It was a gathering of friends for a Passover meal, where guests could bring a dish in keeping with the hosts' Jewish traditions.  (I contributed the soup from the previous blog post.)

I've never had anything like it, and I'm not sure what to call it; it was a molecular gastronomic composition containing sweet, savory, earthy, and a slightly salty component.  The center item was a gelatin cube that had a hollow center into which something had been injected, please don't ask what - I wasn't taking notes.

The bar has been raised.
