We don't name the animals born here on the farm, there are too many, and it's always been a curse: name it, and it dies shortly thereafter. So whenever you see an ear tag with a name instead of a number, it's one that wasn't born here. We've had "Lily", "Coal", "Marcy", and "Dawn". Yes, Dawn!
The surprise of the day was this cow, who happens to have the same name as my mother. If I find one with the name of my sister, this is really going to be too weird.
