This morning we did the same thing we've done for the past - I can't remember how many years. We went to the local diner and on the way back home stopped at the Dunkin' Donuts for a caffeine fix. We do this only one day a week.
We never go inside. Never. Just pull up to the speaker, order, pay, go home. We often remark that the voice behind the box sounds unenthused, bored, and sometimes curt. But for the past couple months, there's been a cheery welcome, full sentences, and "please and thank you" manners.
Today we pulled up to the box and after the standard welcome we heard, "Two medium coffees, one with cream and sugar, one with just cream." Dan's jaw dropped. Is there a hidden camera? Or was the guy JUST THAT GOOD? I wanted to hire him. I wanted to tip him well. It made my day.
**Update, the following week, he again stated our order before we made it!
***Update, 3rd week, and he apologized for not noticing as we drove up!!
