I haven't decided what other species to plant to replace this Austrian pine tree. None of the five we planted 17 years ago did particularly well, given that they are overfertilized by the field being so close to the driveway - and they have snowbanks pushed up against them most winters. It was part of the windbreak that allows us to enjoy our back deck, and keeps dust and pollen from blowing into the windows in the summer.
