This friday afternoon, a box arrived in the mail from McMurray Hatchery. I know they look like mice, but there are 100 chicks of several breeds in this "brooder box" that keeps them warm until they feather up and can go into a larger coop. They will become our laying hens for next farmer's market season, and be put out on pasture in the spring.
